Are 'Task Killer' Apps worth it?

Is a task kill app really worth having on my motorola droid? I have the 'Advanced Task Killer Free' app and I'm tired of constantly montoring it. What is the difference between that app and the built in Android OS 'running applications' tab that allows me to kill active apps.

I used to have it when I first got my Droid but after reading a lot of threads here about how you really don't need it, I decided to get rid of it and see how it went. I've never looked back. I never second guested not having it cuz I really didn't notice a difference in battery life or anything. I hope that helps.
