It looks like Asus has another decent hit on their hands with the Padfone 2. According to supply chain sources, Asus may have sold more Padfone 2 units than Microsoft sold of the Surface RT, to the tune of nearly 1 Million units (for reference current estimates suggest MS sold less than 750,000 units of the Surface RT). Here's the full quote,

Asustek Computer launched Padfone 2, a hybrid smartphone/tablet model, three months ago and nearly one million units have been sold globally, with shipments continuing, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.

Padfone features Qualcomm S4 1.5GHz quad-core processor, a 4.7-inch touch screen, a 13-megapixel rear camera, 16-hour battery life, 3G voice communications and a weight of 649g, the sources indicated.

Among PC vendors who have entered the smartphone market, Asustek and Lenovo have performed the best, the sources claimed. Asustek is expected to unveil an upgraded version of Padfone and other smartphone models with large screens at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona during February 25-28, the sources indicated.

It will definitely be exciting to see what Asus unveils at the MWC later this month.
