Even though the Asus Zenfone 2 was first announced back in January at CES, it is only just now being released to the US market via online retailers. There will be two versions of the device which will be sold unlocked to be used on nearly any carrier, and they are remarkably powerful and affordable. Here's the breakdown:

Asus Zenfone 2 (2GB RAM version & 16GB Storage) = $199.99 Unlocked
  • 5.5-inch FHD (1080p) display (which accounts for 72% of the phone’s front) - with Gorilla Glass 3
  • 1.8GHz Z3560
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB Storage
  • A microSD slot
  • 3,000mAh battery with quick charging (60% in 39 mins)
  • 13MP rear camera
  • 5MP front camera
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop
Asus Zenfone 2 (4GB RAM version & 64GB Storage) = $299.99 Unlocked
  • 5.5-inch FHD (1080p) display (which accounts for 72% of the phone’s front) - with Gorilla Glass 3
  • 2.3GHz Intel Z3580
  • 4GB RAM
  • 64GB Storage
  • A microSD slot
  • 3,000mAh battery with quick charging (60% in 39 mins)
  • 13MP rear camera
  • 5MP front camera
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop
The Asus Zenfone 2 will go on sale in the US tomorrow at Amazon, Newegg, B&H Photo, and Groupon. This seems like a pretty significant device for this small of a price. What do you guys think?

Nice phone.

On screen buttons are a no for me.
No support for CDMA carriers.

I would get one just to test drive the Intel SoC. Are those buttons on the back like the LG series?

nice phone I want to see some reviews.

The ZF2 has been selling quite well here in Asia as Asus is a trusted name and the price is right on. It's not perfect but well worth the investment.

That price is insane for the specs....love everything on the $300 version, except the monster 5.5" display.

Seriously when you think about it, OEM's are running out of upgrades they can actually sell. The processor and camera are pretty well tapped given the software (excluding improvement in lenses)...4gigs of ram is all you'll need in your phone for years and years. Little bit bigger battery and all that's really left is storage.
