As we move along in our data and bandwidth technology it is becoming more and more common to see 100Mbps+ speeds at home. AT&T is planning to bring these same types of connections to your home via wireless connections. They are currently preparing to trial their 5G network in 2017. Business trials for 5G services have already started in Austin Texas. The 5G fixed wireless connection will power their new DircTV Now streaming service. During the second half of 2017 AT&T will continue to test both fixed and mobile 5G connections. The 5G speeds will be rolled out nationwide over the next few years, and should be all set for the end of 2020. AT&T will also continue to improve on their 4G LTE-Advanced network and will be able to provide theoretical download speeds of up to 1Gbps. The fiber network will also continue to expand. It currently services 4.5 million locations and is expected to cover 12.5 million locations by mid-2019.
