background apps running

When I open taskiller there's allways apps I don't open that are running esp
The 2 calanders and messaging. I use handcent. Is there a way to keep thoes from opening up. I don't wanna ignore them. I wanna stop them from running at all

There are some apps that are tied into the OS, meaning they will always be running/restart even after being killed off. Definitely nothing you can do about them without being rooted, and even then, I'm pretty sure the resident root experts around here don't recommend removing apps that came on the phone. May just have to make your peace with teh fact that some apps are always going to be "running" in the background.
