Barnacle wifi or wireless tether?

I heard that wifi tether doesn't work on droid 2 for some reason. So I got Barnacle wifi tether and I asked my friend to check his wifi to test it out but my phone connection did not show up on his list of available networks. Any suggestions? I don't have a laptop to try it on so.... just wondering if anyone else had this issue and how did they go about fixing it,

The wireless tether does work for the droid 2. It's what I use for my laptop at school. You just have to be rooted

Well I'm rooted, I just didn't have a pc to test it out on. That's great to know. Thanks for your help!
