Battery cover blocking gps

I've been having problems with my GPS on my Droid Xfor a while now.

The other day, I downloaded Gps Test, discovering that I couldn't find a single satellite.
I pulled the battery cover off, planning on a hard reset. Immediately after removing the battery cover, I had 12 sats in view, and I was using 10 with an accuracy of 6 feet.
When I put the battery cover back on, GPS dropped to 0 satellites again. (repeat, repeat... same thing.)

Does anyone know if there's a way to fix this?

Same Issue

Im having the same issue where the battery cover has to be off for my GPS to work...any ideas on how to fix other than getting a new phone?
