Battery Critical Notifications

Do you guys get any notifications when your battery gets critical ?

My battery has died several times now and i haven't heard any warning regarding such. Last night I did see the red light go on and then the phone was dead 2 minutes later.

I wonder if there is a way to configure the thresholds for auto shutoff and low warnings.

Oh and also every smart phone Ive' owned has has a led heartbeat so you know its alive at a glance. The droid does not, which sucks.

I have two notifications setup based on battery life so I know when its low and when its nearing death. The near death one also disables any extra radios I have on and lowers the brightness all the way down. Locale is a GREAT application.
