HI, i have a droid x that will not keep a charge, when i check the battery usage it says 95% android OS and it dies usually around 5-6 hours without any activity. Does that mean a program is running in the background??

Could be, you'd have to look at Running Services.
Is sync on?
WiFi?
GPS?
Many things will cause the battery to drain.
On mine it was display 76% Standby 8% (looking for a signal drains battery) WiFi 5%

OP, when was the last time you shut your phone down?
From what I have noticed, every once in a while, Android "freaks" out and becomes the #1 battery use...this seems to be just a glitch. My DX did this and I cured it by doing a battery pull...phone hasnt did it since, and this was atleast 5 months ago...
