If you want to take a glimpse into the future then you should check out this new smartphone prototype. While Samsung and LG duke it out building flexible OLED displays, a Chinese company has created a prototype bendable smartphone that supposedly uses a flexible Graphene display.

The bendy phone was demoed at the Nanping International Conventional Center Trade Show in Chongqing last week. While the display quality is obviously terrible, it's still a remarkable creation relatively speaking. An update to the original source of this story indicates that the display is not 100% Graphene, but is some hybrid with other materials as well.

It will be interesting to see what type of finished products can be eventually designed with this as a starting point. You can actually see two different videos of this bendable smartphone in action at the trade show. We couldn't embed them here, but you can check them out at the source link below.

I can see the device being useful if it's waterproof, dust proof and impact proof so outdoorsy types can wrap it around their writs and jump off cliffs into oblivion.

But on daily use, flicking your wrist back and forth so you can see the "whole" screen is impractical.

I just found my next smartwatch
