Not the most "hip" if you will about mp3's etc...none of the ones I downloaded and saved on my Blackberry Tour to my SD card (via the Verizon/rhapsody "app") will play on the D2...they are wma files I believe but not sure why they won't work..they show up but it says the media files are not supported...

I don't really do much work off of a computer (can do most everything non work related on the D2) away from work so is there a place to download songs/albums/etc on the D2 OTHER than the Amazon MP3 app which seems to crash, burn and take more right turns than a dyslexic nascar driver ...

any help would be appreciative

I use Limewire and download what songs I want... connect my droid to the PC and load my music, if you need something while out and about go on the market and search "Mp3 Music" The Ayal Team made the app.. I think it's great and I can download whatever songs I want for free. IMO Amazon is garbage.

I don't have Limewire and don't really use a computer outside of work considering most of what I can do I can now do on the D2 (and its so liberating haha)...thanks for the heads up on the app in the market..it's already got 2 songs I like that I've downloaded now..however, I am cautiously optimistic since it's "free"...is this the part where I get sued by the recording industry for downloading these songs? haha...but seriously...at some point they could go after this app and the users right?

Honestly... I highly doubt it, on the Android Market there are so many music/video apps out there they would need a large.. very large army to do so. I wouldn't worry about it.

thanks ..there's a lot of junk versions of song on here too ..so it's a fair tradeoff to get the decent ones..thanks again for the heads up

i usually just go to beemp3 . com through my browser. and thats if i can't find what i'm looking for with the imusic app. which may or may not still be on the market

yeah IMO all free music download apps/sites have the junk ones.. it's just like limewire when you go to download a song and every 15 seconds during the song it does a long "beeeep" noise just to try an teach you a lesson.. lol. There are paid Mp3 services on there where you can buy the music. I mean they even have apps on the market that will let you download paid apps for free, my friend does it all day long. I wont do that because I don't want google/vzw to catch me.

I see there is also no way to save the "downloaded" songs to the SD card or out of the app itself, so in effect you're only "borrowing" or listening to the song through that particular app/company/etc...

unless I find a way to transfer...but just listening to them on the phone is all I'm going to do anyway..so it's actually perfect...I never intend(ed) to burn them to cd or listen to them anywhere but the phone when I workout or need to relax, etc

thanks again

I generally use music wizard. It is on the market. Just put in the name of an artist or song and it has never failed me in pulling up the information. You can even preview the song to confirm it is th e version you want. It will store in a folder on your SD card with the name of the app. You can then move it to your music folder. Then I get the album art and you music file is good.

seems decent..not sure why it needs access to my gps location AND phone calls and internet though....seems odd.

Am I over paranoid about these apps?
