Ok been a Droid user since the D1 now have a DX for last 10 month. Been in this forum for last 2 month now I wanna root after reading what I can do. Lol not interested in custom roms would like to get rid of some bloat ware and get some better battery life! Warranty is in 2 month anyway then I upgrade! And I'm not very computer savvy either! Lol

Do a Google search for Z4Root. It's a one-click rooting apk. Works great and super easy. Although I don't think you'll save much batt life just by being rooted and not running a custom ROM.

My intivirus says security threat after I download z4root!

Don't worry about it. The .apk should be 955 kb. If the file size checks out, then install it. Lookout mobile had no issues with it on my phone.

I don't have a computer either. I do everything from my phone. If for some reason I need to sbf, i just use my friends pc.

z4root does everything, its a single button, click permanent root. I would be carefull maybe you got a dirty copy of z4root, mine didnt set any alarms with lookout and it scans everything I install.

The app also has an unroot option if you ever decide to unroot for a warranty claim or whatever.

Rooted my DX Saturday idopa was alot of help I didn't know it had an unroot option been wondering about that later I found out that most antivirus apps look for exploits as a security risk! Lol

Sometimes z4Root will show up as a virus - but read the definition on it. It's like ... "Linux Crack Tool" or "Linux Exploit". It's totally fine, that's what your doing buddy... cracking your phone.

I figured that out already over the weekend most antivirus apps look for exploits as a security risk
