Bluetooth headset trouble

I got a new bluetooth (LG Tone) headset and paired it with my rooted galaxy nexus running aokp 4.2.2 but the pairing falls in and out saying "out of range" from time to time and causing hiccups in sound/functionality. I had the same headset paired on a Lumia 928 with not a single issue so I know it's not the headset. Is there a particular android rom I should be using or setting I need to change in order for this to work properly?

it may be an issue with aokp, i dont know of any settings that could fix this.
unfortunately, the only way to tell if its the rom is to go back to stock and see if the headset works properly.
if you have a nandroid of stock and aokp, it would be reasonably painless to test it out.
