Bluetooth won't turn on (sometimes)

I turn on and off my bluetooth power as needed to conserve battery consumption. Occasionally I cannot turn on bluetooth. I normally use the power widget, and it starts to come on with the lighter yellow line, but never powers on and it goes blank. I even try to power it via settings and it just won't come on. I am forced to do a phone power down and reboot and it is ok. Is there any other work around to this like something I could force close? It stinks when I am getting into my car and the damn thing does not work and then I have to wait for a reboot.

+2 - this has been happening to me for the last week on my Droid (unrooted). Even when it does come on it doesn't connect via the BT quickly, I end up picking up the phone as they are saying Hello, Hello??? and telling them to hold on then it finally connects.
