If you just can't wait until Mobile World Congress for more to be revealed about the the Ericsson Xperia Play, a.k.a., the 'Playstation Phone', then leave it to Sony to 'leak' a prototype for a full preview by Engadget. Either Sony is very crafty, or they have really bad security. Either way, we get some juicy dirt on this interesting new phone. From the preview that Engadget shared we learn several things, and here are a few of them broken down for you:
- The screen has slightly better blacks than the Xperia Arc and is possibly using a 'Bravia' engine.
- Gingerbread is its current OS and it has 512MB Ram
- It has a single-core 1GHz CPU with an Adreno 205 GPU (scoring 1,689 on Quadrant and 59fps on Neocore and tying with the Tegra2 powered LG Star on NenaMark.)
- The Playstation-style dual-shock keypad works natively in Android
- Is fairly comfortable to use while gaming, although not quite as refined as the PSP Go
- Using downloaded emulators will play games like Ridge Racer Revolution, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, Gundam Battle Assault 2, and Super Mario Bros. 4
- Is very snappy and mostly stable (for a prototype)
