I was able to get the sbf file to flash to my D2 and the last thing it said was to power up the phone but it wont power up. it keeps going from the droid symbol with the flashing red light and the word droid. So did I brick it or what. It wont do anything else.

This sounds like the Boot Loop, I believe there is an Update.zip file that you can get for your version of the phone (Unsure which you are running) that you can run from the recovery console. (X+Power -> Search Button on keyboard/Both Volume Buttons), run Update.zip from sd card

What do I have to use to get an sbf? Rsd lite? If so where do I get the most compatible version? Thanks for any help

if the op's problem has not been resolved, you probably just need to do a data wipe. 9 times out of ten that is required after an sbf. do it from recovery and you should be set. ldopa i'll either pm you or comment in that other thread with sbf details.
