I have found that some websites are impossible to view without the browser automatically going to the mobile version of the page. Does anyone know if there is a setting to stop this? There are some sites with awful mobile versions. Thanks!

Not the optimal solution, but the Dolphin Browser has a setting you can change to change the browser's user agent (if you don't know, this is how web sites identify you as a mobile user in order to direct you to the mobile page, or just identify what browser you're using) to either one that would be found on a desktop PC or the iPhone's user agent.
As for a solution with the stock browser, unless the web site itself has a way to allow you to use the normal site, I don't know of any way.
