Bugs / Annoyances

So I've used my Droid Pro for 2 days now, and here's what I have to report in terms of bugs and things that are not bugs, but that annoy me ; )

I hope you guys can contribute as well!

* The unlock slide motion, seems a bit sensitive, have to take it all the way to the side to unlock it, usually have to be careful or do it multiple times.

* tried to recreate bb type shortcut of typing contact name from home screen - did this by changing search to search contacts only. this worked great! however, then I realized its pulling up a lot of contacts that have no phone numbers (emails only). My D1 had an option to force contacts to show those with phone #s only, this one doesn't seem to have that feature.

* battery life seems a bit weak, but I've been using it like crazy the last 24 hours, so may be why.

* its slippery. Can't keep on your lap when driving, it slides off, need a rubbery case.

* keyboard seems a bit stiff, but should loosen up (similar feelings on new bb)

* on the bb the #s were arranged as I believe #s should be, ie. to dial, but in this one they are across the top, not a huge deal, but still.

* its loaded with a bunch of extra crap / bloatware.

* tried to run launcher pro, but doesnt run smoothly.. going to try its default gui - see how that goes.

* can't seem to figure out how to control the LED light - ie. I want to turn on the blink when there's a new email message. cant find it.

* speaker phone volume is WEAK, my D1, was 2x as loud.

* The user interface when viewing a contacts details, is busy and ugly. miss the D1 clean look

That's about it for now.

Oh yeah - so you guys know my reason for the phone - I used to be on BB, loved it. I get ~150-200 emails a day, and my primary use of a phone is a phone, text and emails, apps are secondary. I love android - but when I switched from BB to a D1 my productivity went down. I got this phone hoping it will go back up! It has so far. The keyword 100% helps. I couldn't stand on screen, even with swype.

Thanks

I assume this phone has Google Navigation but since its powered by Bing, you have to open the Maps app first rather than having an icon for Navigation? Any chance you can confirm this for me?

Thanks...

I hope they release the better battery soon because I'll be playing games & using apps like crazy especially when I travel, which is quite often. That is one thing I like about my Blackberry Curve, the battery life is great even after using the web browser all day & playing brick braker every now & then lol. Have you tried out the Adobe Flash Player yet?

Thanks for the post I too moved from BB to my first touchscreen and didnt look back I look forward to the PRO and buying the extended battery

Its not Bing powered? Seems Google all the way - haven't noticed bing. I have an icon for Navigation as well... same old Android

Also - there's an issue with GPS response. They had this problem on the DROID by the latest froyo update fixed it... basically when you kick off navigation sometimes it gets stuck on searching for satellites - after a power cycle, it works instantly.

is anyone experiencing overheating of the new droid pro like I am?

also, how do I shut off the vibration feedback of the home buttons? this is annoying the $#!? out of me.

Oh..good news...I should not have assumed...my bad.

Thanks for the info

I've been messing around with mine for about 5 hours now. So far I've found two issues:

1. Overheating like benjamini mentioned...mostly between the logo and camera.

2. The phone does not recognize the memory card if I have the USB plugged into my laptop. Specifically I can't browse to the photo albums I have stored.

Make sure you have mass storage on. I believe its not on by default. After you plug your phone in, you should see a usb icon in the notification tray, open the notification tray, select the icon and choose mass storage.

I dont have a Pro yet... but this is how its done on the DINC, I assume its the same on the Pro.

One annoyance for me is the very weak vibration. It is 2 quick, short vibrations for email, texts etc.

Is there some way to change this?

Thanks kilofox. Sounds the same...probably not a lot of difference between 2.2 & 2.1.

The setting is set to 'USB Mass Storage'. When I go to 'Gallery' and try to browse pictures, I get an 'SD Card is Unmounted of Unavailable' notification. When I go to Settings -> SD Card & phone storage, I get 'Unavailable' for the Space sections and am asked to insert an SD card.

When I set the USB connection to 'Charge Only' then I am able to browse my albums on the phone, and the phone can see that the SD card is mounted. Seems like setting it to 'USB Mass Storage' is currently only going to allow the user to browse the SD card through the computer. That seems like a bug to me unless there is something I'm missing.

This is the way it works on the phones I have used: X, D1, Fascinate and DINC.

When you come off Mass Storage Mode to Charge Only, you will see Android Mounting/Scanning the SD Card in the Notifications Area. Thats the way it works.

That's good to know. Thank you very much kilofox. I've had this less than 24 hours after a BB Curve for 2 years. Gonna take some getting used to.
