Busybox? What is it?

Ok I rooted my phone with z4root. I just got the root checker app and it says im rooted but also that Busybox is installed. What is this and how the hell did it get installed? What does it do and how do I get rid of it when I un-root? Thanks in advance

Don't worry, you need it to have root. When you unroot it will be gone.

It's basically a collection of linux utilities that is needed for certain awesome apps to run (metamorph, titanium backup etc...)
