Button backlight stays on when on multimedia dock

I use my dx on the multimedia dock as my alarm clock on my nightstand. However, after I updated to GB the backlight on the buttons stays lit while it's on the dock. It is really obnoxious. Is there any way to turn them off without turning the screen off. Thanks.

Two things to try.
1. Place phone in dock, now turn the phone off, then back on. I thought I read somewhere that works.

2. If you are rooted, corliss adjbrightness from the market, open it up, menu, options, lock off button lights. This one works for sure, but out beds root access

it may have something to do with which alarm app you use. I use alarm clock pro ( the app is a black screen with green digital numbers and the time is 8 something) i've been having pretty good luck with this method:

bring the clock up on your screen
turn the screen off
while screen is off place the phone on the dock
you'll be prompted to unlock your screen and when you do the backlights (which turned on as soon as you put the phone in the dock) should turn off after a few seconds
