Buyers Remorse?

I am a quiet lurker, long waiter for the Bionic. I made about 20 costco trips checking to see when it would be in stock, debated purchasing it elsewhere, etc... I finally got it today. I am not sure if this website has ruined it for me on things I probably wouldn't have noticed (screen not being supreme, etc...), being aware of newer phones on the horizon ( Nexus Prime) or the fact that its not much of a major upgrade for me coming from the OG, like when i came from a flip phone to the OG. I want to really love this phone, but so far I don't know if I do? Maybe I just need some time with it, but these next 14 days are going to be a battle.

Go to the other phone forums, and read them last page to first page - you'll see issues with all of them. I think you see more with this phone, proportionally, because it's been hyped over the year perhaps more than any phone since the OG Droid.

Just curious, in what way did you think it wasn't much of an upgrade from the OG Droid? I know the screen, while bigger, is not the same in perceived quality, but IMO the CPU/RAM/network blow it away!

Also, I've had some of the problems reported. The headphone whine issue and the network drops I think will wind up being a firmware update or two and possibly network work by V.

I also came from an OG Droid and I'm loving the Bionic. That being said I can kinda see what you're saying. The Bionic is not as much of an upgrade over the D1 as the D1 was over a flip (dumb) phone. The D1 can do a lot more than a flip phone. However, theres not much a Bionic can do that a D1 can't, it just does it much faster, bigger or with better quality.

i'm coming from an OGD too & no buyer's remorse here!
OGD everyday problems: insufficient memory to run multiple resource-hogging apps. consistent homescreen redraws which took forever.
the bionic FLIES with every task, never run into any FC or auto-close of an app even while multitasking (which is perfect)
maybe there's still a redraw lag, maybe - i can't tell, it's way too fast for me to notice

and i was REALLY trying to hold out for the Prime, but my OGD didn't make it & i had to "settle" for the bionic.
still, no buyers remorse here!

Buyer's Remorse will always be there. You return the Bionic and get another phone and it'll be there.

That being said, I'm happy with the Bionic and came from an UNROOTED OG Droid.

Nope. Love it. But i dont get emotional -its a phone. When a newer one comes out that i want ill buy itand sell this one.

The thing people need to understand is that devices like the Bionic are a new breed. Software that takes advantage of the additional horsepower and screen resolution will start to appear as the platform matures. Remember when dual-core PCs started appearing? At that time, few apps were multicore aware; so there was little perceived difference. Optimized apps started appearing, and all of a sudden, the added performance was seen. These smartphones are now more sophisticated than PCs were 5 or 6 years ago. The same thing will happen. The software will follow the hardware.

I agree with Dave, anything new will take time to get better. Having worked with computers almost all my life I have seen a lot of this, you grow to have patience with new technology.

As for me, I personally upgraded from an OG rooted Droid and the daily usage is completely night and day in comparison. Everything is a lot more snappier, the Bionic does everything that I want without as many issues as the OG Droid.

i lost the hype of the bionic for the longest time. Then when I went to costco to check it out and the fact that people were getting there early to get the bundle, it actually made me want it. So I actually bought it. I do love it , except the screen. Call me picky I know. I love the build quality and of course the lte speed. I only had the 4g cutoff issue as well as the phone not responding (had to do a battery pull). I couldn't see the screen. I know there will be bugs, but I knew all these would be fix in an update. But I couldn't force myself to ignore the screen for this $300 phone. Screen is important to me and I know some people are ok with the pentile, but I wasn't. It's not bad, but it's not superamoled good (kind'a like that screen). I knew I would hate myself if I ended up liking the nexus/prime that comes out in the next couple of months. I ended up returning it yesterday. I wanted to give myself at least the option. If the nexus/prime is too big (that's my only big concern) or too plasticy for my liking, then i'll get the bionic back. but at least I have a choice instead of waiting another year for an upgrade.

of course now i'm missing my lte speed and dual core. i realized how slow my dinc is now. lol

Yeah you all make good points. I do love how fast this phone is. As far as not being much different from my OG? For what I use it for, I feel like I am driving a Lamborghini around the city, when the civic did just fine with a few hiccups every now and then, which i could probably fix by deleting a bunch of stupid stuff on it. Basic features, I.E., bluetooth audio streaming, video playback, web browsing, and of course the other phone functions i don't notice much. If only it (OG) had 4g though.

I am just disappointed I haven't seen the wow factor I had when I first got the OG. I also strongly believe that they released it before the Iphone 5 because they wanted a 1 up before it came out, i think anything after the Iphone5 gets released will be better than IP5 and the Bionic to compete. This phone is growing on me, I would be completely sold if it was a world phone.
