Calendar and App Download help. Please.

I'm new. So, hi!

Ok so I think I got the basics covered with the Droid 2... I think. I just got it yesterday but I'm having a few problems with stuff I think may be a little remedial. I've been searching and searching looking for answers to the calendar problem. I see a lot of people asking but I don't see a definite answer, or maybe I don't understand. I canNOT get the calendar to sync. I just want a freakin calendar, I didn't think this would be the problem I would have with this phone. I don't care if it's synced to another calendar, my phone is my primary. Is there any way around this? If I go to enter something in the default calendar it tells me to sync it but there's no option to "sync to calendar" under my gmail address. And I tried to download a different calendar app and it did the same thing.

#2: I downloaded 2 different weather apps and neither one showed up in the usual spot after downloading but when I look at my applications under settings they're there.

Help!?!

So what was the fix? I am having the same problem on my d2g and its almost making me want my crackberry back

I simply logged into google on a desktop computer, then I went to the calender (had to search some) made an event for sometime in the future, and shortly after that it worked. it's ridiculous I know, sometimes I wish Rim and google would join forces, we could have the best of BB with the awesome power of droid.
