Caller ID Faker

This is so much fun. I never knew it was possible to do this, but you put the # you want to call, and the # you want it to look like you're calling from. It comes up on their phone the same as if the fake number is calling (works best if it's someone in their contacts) and it even has a voice changer and an option to record the call.

What would be really awesome is an app that shows the caller ID info for a number not already in my phonebook... instead of just the number.

interesting RPROU.

anyone else have success with this application?

this very well may be an application worthy for security purposes.

I can see how this program in the wrong hands..... :) Good for a practical joke or to mask your actual calling # on a short call. There is a quick advertisement at the beginning of a call.

Actually, a legit purpose for this (as I'm thinking about "How would I use this?") is for business purposes...

Right now, I have GoogleVoice as a 2nd number for my business that patched through to my cell # (I don't want clients to have my personal cell #). However, right now, because when I call them back on my cell, I use *67 to block my cell number from showing up on their caller ID. I could use this app to show my GV number instead, and then clients would know it's me calling back.

Just a thought... I'll have to play around with this one.

I just checked this out. It limits the outgoing calls to 2 mins. Definitely meant to be a gag type of app and not a serious security app. I won't be downloading it.

Could be dangerous - you could spoof someones number and call into their voicemail - some voicemail set up to not prompt for password if called by the phone that "owns" the account. Hmmmmm.

I have seen several Caller ID type apps on the market, but most complain that on Droid that the info is provided after the call. I will try a few and post back what I encounter.

Droidfan, you can use google voice to call with your google voice number, no need to use this program. Just go into your settings under google voice and select "ask me which number to use". Whenever I make a call it prompts me as to whether or not I want to use my cell number or google voice.

How do I get google voice?

threadjacking is a crime. ;) search for google voice and you will have all sorts of answers.

I tried looking up this app in the App Market and the search ends with no matches. I did find one program but it charges you after 2 minutes. Another program requires the person your calling to have the app as well.

any suggestions? Does using the HTC Droid make a difference?

I tried and so far, after the advertisement, it disconnects. I know one person who is able to use it, but so far, I can only call my house number, so it's useless.

I'm actually having a lot of trouble with this. I can't even make a call using the app. I enter in the number and when I press call it says "invalid phone number try prefixing it with a +, 00, or 001 and the countrys dialing prefix code". Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? I'm typing in the 10 digit number and tried it with the codes it gave me as well.
