Can anyone please explain what the reading mode toggle does.

Going through my new s4, if see a toggle under the settings that says reading mode. Been trying to search for an explanation of what it's for and what it does. Haven't found any. It is toggled on. Does it need to be on? Will it put a drain on the battery by being on?

It doesn't drain the battery any extra. I really like it when reading with the Kindle app. It makes reading far more pleasant than it was on my RAZR.
