Can Eclipse 1.3 kernel be changed? to run ubuntu?

Hello! I love my Eclipse 1.3. It has everything to make me happy.. except I can not run my ubuntu.img or debian.img. I have Liberty on my DX2 and the kernel is setup for this. I guess the kernel I have with the Eclipse doesnt allow for this. So my question is, what can I do.. if anything?

I am thinking that Boot Manager Pro looked in theory, to be something I could use to try other ROMs and then switch back .. but I dont know how safe it is and jhow well it works with SafeStrap.

Any ideas? Or just wait for a safe way to run 4.x ICS roms?

Thanks.
