Can I buy books on my Fire and also read them on my Nexus??

I have a kindle fire and a nexus. Can I buy books on my Fire and also have them on my nexus? Don't these two run android?

If you have the kindle app any books you buy will be there. Can read them on your Kindle Fire, PC, or phone.
