Can I save battery setting the network to 3G only when I'm not using data connection?

Hello droiders...
For exemple, I'm using 4G network while I'm using the internet, and then I turn off the data connection..or I'm using Wi-Fi network, my network still is on 4G network even with the data connection turned off.
So my question is, when I'm not using data connection, can I save battery setting my network to 3G only? Or this won't make a relevant difference on battery life?
Cheers

There was an experiment done recently because people said turning on airplane mode while charging would make it charge faster. The result was you got a charge 4 minutes faster from a dead phone. When you consider it takes a couple hours to charge from 0 that's not a huge difference. I feel like the same will be seen in your question. You may save a little, but not noticable.

It may even be worse on 3G. A 4G capable phone will typically use more battery in a 3G only area. I think the 4G doesn't struggle as much. YMMV
