can not delete default account

I am sorry if this has already been posted. But does anyone know how to delete the default email account without doing a hard reset?

Aside from being rooted, I haven't seen any other way to remove the default account you set up. I'm guessing it's because that address tires in with MANY stock AND downloadable apps.

OK so if I am rooted then is it possible? and do I lose all my paid apps? and if so please tell me the process. I am rooted, need to delete the primary email account due to an divorce situation, but want to keep my apps that i have paid for if at all possible.. Thanks

I'm looking for an answer to this question also. I don't use my default account at all, and it's the only calendar that shows up. I need to access my other gmail calendar.
