Can the time until the screen locks be changed?

I don't like having to unlock the screen after 30-60 seconds of idle time. I like the screen going blank to save battery time, but it's annoying to constantly go through the pattern to unlock it. Is there an app that lets you customize those settings?

Settings > Sound & Display > Screen Timeout (last option)

Any time the screen times out, it will lock the phone unfortunately.

Download the free app screebl lite from the Marketplace. It will override the screen timeout based on the orientation of your phone, so it can tell whether you are holding your phone and the screen will stay on, even if you are just looking at it.

As a couple have mentioned there are options, but you need to explain a little more. Is is going dark to soon? Is it that you just dont like the unlock portion once it goes dark?

First off...screebl is a must as someone mentioned. Make sure to watch the video either from their website or from within the app and set it up. This will just prevent turning off the screen though and not what you may be looking for.

Pattern lock is completely up to you. You can of course stop using the dotted pattern lock and just use the regular unlock screen.

Once the screen goes black you only have a short period. There may be an app to change or stop this, but otherwise this cannot be changed. So...the way I took your original question...can you stop it from going to lock screen after going black...no. Not without some third party app and I am not up on what is out there for this.

I do wonder why it is so critical to undo immediately when it is sitting idle long enough for it to get to this stage in the first place? If it is not critical that you have security just turn off pattern lock. Do understand that touch screens have this lock feature for a purpose and not just to annoy. The iphone also has this and it prevents unwanted calls or your screen going dead because every little touch turns it back on. Just part of the price and more needed than you may think.

Mylock does this.

So does "Screen Mode Widget." It allows three (oddly named) modes.

"Sleep Auto": Default behavior. Screen goes black.

"Awake Stay": Screen goes black but bypasses the lock screen when the power button (or other buttons) is pressed.

"Screen Stay": Screen does not go black.

Works more or less predictably (at least lately.) Resets automatically to "Sleep Auto" if you turn off your phone. (At least mine does.) And optionally places an icon in the notification bar to let you know you've left your phone vulnerable in the "Awake Stay" mode.

I want the pattern unlocked to be delayed, but I still want the phone to go dark at the current time interval. The pattern lock is handy in case i lose my phone. But odds are if I lose it, it will take more than 60 seconds it to be found. So if I could set it up to not set the pattern lock for 20-30 minutes of idle time that would be nice. It seems like a text message conversation goes at a pace timed so i have to unlock it every time a new message arrives.

Now that I think about it, if I do lose my phone is there a way for the person finding it to get my number? Is there like a Return This Phone to This Number app?
