Can you manually configure a not-discovered Bluetooth Headset?

I have a Plantronics Model 340 Bluetooth headset. I have gone into Configuration and tried to "discover" the device but it does not discover it. Is there a manual way to configure the phone to work with the headset?

My phone: Motorola Droid w/Android 2.0.1
