can you tether a Droid X to a ppc mac running OS X 10.5.8?

I ask because I don't think its possible. You need to have an intel chip in order to upgrade to os x 10.6 and without that upgrade the options necessary to tether are not available. If I am wrong and someone has successfully tethered a X to OS X 10.5.8 or later, please share!!! Thank you..

Best suggestion that I can come up with is to root and wifi tether.
