cannot boot into recovery

I was originally rooted using Easy Root on the Droid A855, until the FRG22D update was sent and now the rooting is gone.
I followed the instructions from

Another Android 2.2 FRG22D Rooting Method for the Motorola DROID | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

up until when I have to reboot into recovery by turning the phone on while holding down X.

When I do this it takes me to a screen with a white triangle with an orange exclamation point inside it and a phone laying next to it.
Because of this, I can't install the update.zip file and therefore can't root my phone. After that I just press the power button to turn it off and it restarts like normal. Does anyone know why it's not taking me to the regular recovery menu?

Thanks, I appreciate it.

That is the stock recovery, you press the volume up and camera button to get in. BUT This is the wrong way to root.

If you follow link 3 in my sig you will be good to go.

One click root apps like easy root are EXTREMELY unreliable

thanks for the advice!

Thank you so much! I followed your instructions on how to root it and it worked beautifully. Thanks again and keep up the good work, I appreciate it!

So...why can't I update in SPR recovery? When I update I get a message, can't mount /dev /bloc/mb1011k2 (something like that, can't remember the syntax)
