I'm using my new xoom and then having trouble connecting to gtalk. I can access gmail easily without any problems however gtalk refuses to connect to the server. The message I get is could not connect to the server will try again. I'm trying on wifi networks both of which work from my pc running windows 7. I was able to use this xoom last weekend but now it does not work. I have even deleted my account and recreated it. Gmail works fine as does all other wifi connections.
I am using wifi exclusively at the moment since i'm out of town (Dallas) from my home area (new jersey) and didn't want to activate roaming. I'm a long time AT&T person and know intuitively how their plans work. Does Verizon charge outrageous fees for data roaming within the US? AS improbable as it seems to me, is it possible that this is why Gtalk won't connect?
Thanks in advance from a droid newbie.
