Can't clear notifications

I sent an outlook calendar invite to my gmail/google calendar, but forgot that my phone was on airplane mode. I was unable to download the invite (meeting.ics) and then received a notification saying "meeting.ics Download requires network". I connected to a network, downloaded the meeting.ics calendar invite, but now I'm unable to clear the notification. Swiping won't work, nor can I tap it and X it out. Help! Hard reset and powering it off didn't work either.

getting rid of the notification "download requires network connection"

go to: System Settings --> Apps (under device category) --> All (select from the top where it says downloaded, internal storage, etc) --> download manager --> clear data --> and there you have it. Good luck

Worked like a charm. Thanks so much.
