Can't delete a certain email

Not sure if this has been addressed before but I'll ask again. I'm needing help deleting two emails from last year that was sent mysteriously to my phone. I have deleted many that got sent from 2009 but these two emails just won't delete. They are duplicate emails and I am using Gmail to receive current emails. Any help would be appreciated. Not sure why older emails will delete but can't delete this duplicate email.

Go to "Menu>Settings>Applications>ManageApplications>Filter:All" and delete the data and cache from both Gmail and Gmail Storage. It will probably solve your problem.
