don't know if this is related, but this happened twice to me last week with my s3 and used to happen fairly often with my droid x. first time in over 2 months of ownership.
I pulled off the back and slipped the battery out, and then back in. started up just fine.

This just happened to me. I called tech support they told me to hold down the on/off button and down volumn for 30 seconds or so. It worked and powered back on. Good luck
