cant open the market

Yesterday while I was at work I got a notification to update one of my apps.
I went into the market and was prompted to login to my youtube account.
Once I enter my password I was taken to a screen to enter capture text and was stuck in this loop.
So I deleted the market and re-installed it now when I select the app market it is forcing to close everytime.
I have version 3.1.5 of the market

Any Ideas what I should do?
I was thinking factory reset but Im not sure if it will work since im rooted.

I have tried to clear the user data from the market but this does not work.

Just a thought, try to delete your google account and readd afterwards. Factory reset will work and will not effect your root.

In order to delete my google account I would have to do a factory reset right?
I would do a factory reset but I think it will brick my phone since it is rooted (that happened to me with my droid 2)

Not sure about that. Never had that happening with the d1 and did plenty of resets. You should be able to delete the goole account manually.

I have tried to clear the user data from the market but this does not work.

Since you are rooted, can't you just do a nandroid restore using a backup that is from before this issue started? Also, have you tried "fix permissions" in any of the apps that offer this feature (Rom Manager and others)?

Also, in Manage Applications when you select the Market app, there isn't a "Uninstall Updates" button is there? (Just throwing this out as I'm sure you would have done that if the button was there.)
