Can't save pictures received via texts

My phone is not allowing me to save many of the photos that have been texted to me. The ones that come as a video or slide show save fine. Others show the gallery icon in the top left corner when opened, these won't allow you to do anything but set as a screen lock photo.

Swipe over the picture for a screen capture and rename and save it to your photos from there.

I found the fix for to this. For those of you with the same issue do the following... Back out of the message to the screen with your message log. Long press on the photo or vid from here. It will ask if you want to save attachment. Select yes. Done.
