Can't see a specific Map

Map and Navi Question? Anyone?

I am using newest Maps ver 4.3 (#4305) and I have the ability to add "my maps" from Google to the Droid. In fact I have a few older maps that show up fine. But I added a map from another site that has directions nad when I added it to "my maps" it loaded under the category of "maps Created by others"

when I go to the layers in the Map program on the phone it is very specific it only shows me maps that are "created by me" How do I change this? I cannot see the map I want and really do not want to recreate the whole map

I found a work around for this situation. the map I want allows me to download it in several formats and that helps because then I just import it into "my maps" and it shows up on the Droid. I still wonder two things

1. how to see maps "created by others"
2. how to use these for turn-by-turn directions.

I can download the map in a format that for google, at least, it shows point-to-point directions but I cannot make that translate to the phone.

if I export it as a cuesheet it seems to be perfectly setup up for turn-by-turn but I can't seem to get it to do anything ut show me a blue path over the map and that's not helpful because I have to keep staring at the map to know when/how to turn
