Cant see emoticons from droid bionic

Hello all,
My wife recently got a new Bionic. Since, I have not been able to see her emoticons in texts from her on my Casio Commando. I will see the characters but not the face. Any tips or ideas? I looked through the forums and haven't found anything. All help is appreciated.

yes, i get them from other people.
