My husband has a Razr HD (I have a Razr Maxx). His Razr HD came with Jelly Bean already installed when purchased. He had a system update (to 9.1.41.xt926) 2 days ago which changed some of his icons and color schemes in his phone. He gets text messages from ESPN that he forwards to about 5 friends so to make it easier on himself he created a group of these friends and whenever he gets these texts from ESPN he can just forward the message to the group instead of putting in the individual names. Since this update he can't forward to groups anymore. He went in and deleted the group, put it back in, named it, tried to forward and still didn't work. I went through the settings in text messages and can't find a way to fix it. When he hits forward and types in the name of the group it doesn't appear that the group name is in there. Nothing even close to the group name comes up when he types in the group name. So we went in, deleted that group and renamed it something different, tried again, still no luck. But when we go into contacts, groups, it's in there so I'm really confused.

Hard to believe, same problem here!

I went so far as to completely delete my group list(14 people) and recreate it. Even after doing so, there is no way to message the group out of text messaging or from the group list itself. I used to be able to just open a blank text message, type the group name, and write and send a message. I cannot do that. When I go to the group list, there is no command to text message the group. It will only show "edit" or "discard." Brilliant! :(

If any one has a clue how to handle this please write back?

Thank you,

M

Yeah, there's a few other threads going on this subject, and it appears that the feature was removed.
In one of the other threads, someone posted that the new version of Verizon Messages (texting app) has the feature.

Also, in a different thread, someone posted that this works
https://play.google.com/store/apps/?id=com.groupu.android

Thank you for this tip. Unfortunately, it still will not allow me to access my group list to send one message to multiple recipients without adding one at a time from my address book. I'm still searching for a work around. It is a shame that this omission is a part of a new UPGRADE in software.

If I find anything, I'll reply here! :)

Hope this info will help others

I will maintain hope that Google will very rapidly (is such a thing possible) patch this glaring deficiency in Jelly Bean 4.1.2 so that the text messaging to a group of regular recipients is restored as a normal part of Droid Razr/Maxx/HD software and phones. I depend on this function daily and it has been a constant feature on my past 3, Motorola cellular devices. Now, through a software update/"upgrade," the necessary feature is obliterated? That makes no sense.

The good news:

Go SMS Pro will permit anyone to do group text messaging and is available on the Play Store as a free download.

Have a nice weekend, everyone!

JB fail

I have been so happy with my Jelly Bean update on my Droid4 until I started noticing just little issues. This NO group messaging is the first major one that I have found. Its bad enough i lost my alarm "increasing volume" and my "timer" in the clock app but Gdam it no group messaging? WTF

Seems like all very simple features that should have never been removed. A giant fail..
