Can't update apps

Since when can't I update apps unless I have Wi-Fi? I'm currently still on 6.0 and never had a problem before.

Am I doing something wrong?

Is there a work-around?

Are you checking manually for updates and then telling the phone to update?

I would double check your Play Store settings.

Can't update apps. Have the auto update off but when I go to the play store all the apps with available updates are there but with a header at the top of the screen that says waiting for WiFi.

Used to be able to do manual updates with no problem. I don't understand why it's a problem now.

And I'd love to be able to get the 7.0 update but seems like the only way to do that is through WiFi. But that's a whole other rant.

Ok, I got this figured out.

Apparently when I tried to go somewhere with WiFi this morning to get the 7.0 update somehow my preferences in the play store got set to auto update which caused all the apps to start updating.

Now all the apps are stuck in the updating/waiting for WiFi status. I most definitely have auto-update switched off now but I have to manually cancel each update in progress to finally get the app to update over the network.

And I'm guessing I won't be able to update to 7.0 until all the apps are updated?

An OS update doesn't require apps to be updated, though a new OS version sometimes results in more available app updates.

As Jonny mentioned, the Nougat update does not care what your app status is. I installed Nougat with no active apps and the phone was not even activated yet.
