Car dock app & playlists

I just got a car dock for my D2G. When I hit the music button it just begins playing the music on the phone. I can find no place to choose playlists or select which music to play. Am I missing something or is the car dock music player just a rudimentary app?

I'm not sure about the car home app you have, as I have a D1. But you can dl an app called "car home" that has a red car with an android driver as the icon.
This app is customizable and will let you add playlists as shortcuts. It also displays speed, location and weather.
I replaced the original car home app on my phone with this one.
