Changing Primary Account

I have a Droid 1 and I have 2 gmail accounts I use. I want to switch the primary account my phone uses to backup my information like apps. Is there an easy way to do that? I have purchased apps as well. Verizon told me I would have to reset the phone and start from scratch. That would mean downloading each app again and possible not being able to get the ones I have paid for back.

There is no way to switch your primary account, unless you do a factory reset on your phone. All the market apps you bought with your primary account can be recovered, if you again use it as your primary account on reboot, but if you use a different account they won't show up in the market. Paid apps are linked to your current account, so if you stop using this account goodbye paid apps. What's your reason for switching accounts?

I'm trying to think of a way you can hang on to your paid apps, a couple of ideas; You could create a backup with Astro File Manager or even better Titanium Backup(if you are rooted). But the only thing is, I'm not sure if you'll be able to recieve updates on your paid apps. So you'll be stuck with the current version; I could not find a way to switch google account clouds, but you could do some research and possibly contact google.

And as a last resort you could just go to your Gmail settings on a pc, Accounts and Import, then choose to send your email from another address. Whilst you are the only one that knows you have this old email.

Depending on the number of paid apps you have this might be a pain, but contact the publishers support line via email and let them know your situation.

They'll probably tell you how to get the paid version activated with your new account. I've bought a few apps and I checked with some of the vendors how to reactivate the paid versions just in case I lost my current phone or bought a different phone and they all replied back with info that they had processes to do this type of thing.
