:):icon_eek: Hello all, My max is approx 13 days old. Has anyone reported speaker phone clipping on maximum volume? If i turn the volume down a notch it doesn't clip. This happens intermittently on gb and now on ics. It doesn't do it with music or other media, just the human voice over speaker. Full fdr b4 & after update. Sounds odd I know. Went to verizon wireless, told em my story and said they can ship one out overnight. I asked, is it a new phone? Oh yes, he the sales manager said....I get the new phone the other day and its got a sticker the size of Montana on it saying a certified like new phone...RATS!

I don't want to take a chance on trying this "Certified new phone" to see it it clips or not and just stay with the one I have. If it is a common prob i'd just stay with the one i got.

UPdate: the phone lost total sound now and needs to be replaced.

In this case its called over modulation. You could try going into settings, sound, and scroll down to media audio effects, phone speaker. Its set at default to BASS PUNCH. Try putting on something like BALANCED. Its asking alot of a small tweeter to take the boom of some peoples voices. Try this, I'll bet it helps

It's still distorting and the different speaker settings did not solve the problem. Plus, total sound lose is another problem this phone is exhibiting as well...Why is it that Motorola can't design cell phones without speaker problems? But I sure love the way it looks. Kind of like Marilyn Monroe: some people thought she couldn't act yet nobody complained about her bod.

I decided to call Verizon customer service and told them I wasn't happy I received a refurbished phone when I was till in the 14 day window of trial (re-furb was received on July 11, the 14th day of maxx trial). She said I should have gotten a new phone and apparently someone made a mistake by sending out a re-furb. I was instructed to return to the brick and mortar store where they will give me a new one. I returned to the store and that is what precisely what they did. Now I hope this maxx works better that the first one. And I was still able to hang on to the unlimited data plan since I re-signed for another two year contract on the 27th of June. This happened on the 16th of July. Thanks, Verizon!

PS, I returned the re-furb phone to Verizon via fed-ex.
PSS, I'm back on gingerbread, DancingNexus
