Android Central posted some up close pictures of the Galaxy Note which has a Super AMOLED HD screen: Up close and personal with HD SuperAMOLED | Android Central

The Note has a 5.3" screen with a resolution of 1280x800 with a PPI of 285. As you can see the text looks clear.

The Galaxy Nexus has a 4.65" screen with a resolution of 1280x720 with a PPI of 315. So you won't be able to see the pixels like the iPhone's retina display.

So there is no need to worry about the screen being pentile because you won't be able to tell.

I love reading all those comments. its funny. people were still saying how crappy the pics looked.

the pics are taken with a Macro lense...so lense is probably about 1" away from the screen.
they are taken with a digital camera, there is going to be some interference making the "screen door" effect more noticeable.
3 no one should be holding the phone any closer than a foot from their faces....this screen is going to look amazing in person.

i even looked at a fascinate the other day (4" SAMOLED 480x800) and the quality was still very good. this is going to blow away other displays.

oh and i really liked the comment about the guy who loves his bionics screen....are you kidding me? that screen it terrible. i take one look at the battery icon and throw up a little in my mouth.....woof.

I have a bionic and all I see is a clean sharp screen. I have seen some funny lines or pixelation but it almost always looks great. I had a fascinate and a charge. Their screens were both great.
The bionic has different look to it but videos in qHD look great and angry birds looks better than on my other phones. To each his own though.

The thing rated most important on any smart phone is the screen. If the bionic screen bothers you in anyway, it is not for you. My wife had the DROID X and I had the fascinate and I felt the same way about her screen. Just looked like crap compared to fascinate.

I don't mean to crap on the party, but this thread is a bit pointless since the Nexus and Note use different screen technologies. Nexus is penile, the Note is not. That being said, there's no doubt in my mind, the screen on the Nexus is going to be mind blowing.

From what I've read the only difference is the 5.3" vs the 4.65", the resolution 1280x800 vs 1280x720 and the ppi 285 vs 315. They are both using PenTile technology, unless I misread something.

I'm pretty sure the Note isn't penile, I may be wrong though...

If it has an hd super amoled screen then yes, it's pentile. Samsung hasn't developed an HD super amoled screen in a non pentile matrix yet.

How do you guys think the Nexus screen will perform under direct sunlight? Power draw?
(compared to the Bionic)

I guess we'll have to wait until it is out for reviews and comments here?

One review I read said it was quite good in sunlight, so I'm curious to see what some of the more popular sites say.
