Compact QWERTY

I was told in the store when I purchased the phone you can have a compact qwerty keyboard. I don't see it. Does anyone know if this is true?

Compact in the sense that the keys are closer together? Not in the sense that it is two letters on one button, like blackberry? Thanks.

When you are holding the phone like as if you were talking on it, thats portrait and the keys are small and close together, not 2 in oe key like a BBerry pearl.
