Confusion on Voice Search app

I have not been able to change my default location so that if I say "pizza" it finds pizza places in my area. It will find pizza if I say "zip code pizza". I do remember setting my default when I first got the phone and I miskeyed one letter and ended up with a default in NY. I have tried turning on my gps locator, sending my location to google via sms and setting it on maps. They all seem to be independent of each other even if I sign on to google.

I also lost my location on my default home screen HTC clock and cant get it back. This happened when I tried to added more weather locations and change my location. Is there a "master" location setting.

No doubt my answer is staring me in the face but please HELP--this is really bugging me!

Only thing I can think of off the top of my head is to make sure you hve gps turned on (settings>location & security) and that you have "use my location" turned on for searches and whatnot (settings>privacy).
