Connecting to Windows XP?

I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and am enjoying it. However, when I plug it into my desktop to try to sideload files into my Nook app, it identifies it as a camera and asks me to load software. It shows the file folders on the Tab, but shows them as all empty, so I cannot place files into the Books folder within the Nook folder. I can take out the MicroSD card, transfer the books to a folder on the card, then put the card back into the Tab and transfer, but it seems overly complicated.

When I connect to my husband's computer, it does see all the subfolders. He's running Windows7, while I have XP.

Is there something I can do?

Thanks for any help you can provide!
