Contact Confusion (Please Help)

Well I just got my Motorola Droid this morning and there is two things confusing me so far.

1) Is there a way to add a contact onto your phone's contacts, without it automatically being pushed also onto your gmail account? There are contacts I need to have on my phone that I don't want to be on my gmail, such as personal numbers being transfered to my work gmail. Is there a way to stop this?

2) How do you save a picture off of a message sent to your phone's "Messaging"? My girlfriend sent me a picture to have on my new phone and I can't figure out how to save it. Please help. >.<

1. Turn off sync for your gmail account
2. Long press the picture

you go to settings>accounts and sync> select which one not to sync

You can also add multiple accounts so that the one with work contacts does sync and the one with personal does nto sync. I use gmail, exchange and somehting else I don't recall but it winds up just keeping contacts local to the device. Gmail has my personal stuff and exchange has my work contacts and the third is where I keep personal stuff I don't want anyone to kno0w about <wink>.
